And here's the long story about how I got into this business :)
I'm a wife, a mother, and a small business owner. I live in a small mountain town in Southwest Colorado. I love exploring new places, being by the water or a good camp fire, and being with friends and family.
My professional career started in the Health and Wellness Industry, which is what I went to school for. I planned health screenings for a couple different companies in my first 5 years of my career. My whole department was laid off in 2016 and I was at a loss for where I wanted to go from there! I did odd jobs for the next year while I figured it out.
In 2017, my husband Dan started his own Financial Planning firm from scratch. While he was growing it, he also started a consulting firm called New Heights Solutions, where he was helping other Financial Planners implement technology and create processes for their businesses (he's good at that).
Fall of 2017 came, and I decided instead of trying to find another Corporate job, I would put all my time and energy into helping build his businesses. We started advertising Virtual Assistant services through New Heights Solutions, in addition to the consulting Dan was already doing.
One of the odd jobs I had from 2016-2017 was working with a recruiting firm who hired Financial Planners, so I had quite the network of Financial Planners started already on LinkedIn. I started reaching out to my network to see who needed Virtual Assistant services.
I had ZERO experience in Financial Planning Firm administrative support. Dan literally taught me everything I needed to know AS I was taking on client work! After 6 months, we had so many clients that the two of us couldn't handle all the work, so we hired our first contractor and started our Virtual Assistant Agency at New Heights Solutions. That business is still alive and well 7 years later!
I have trained about a dozen different contractors and employees how to do the work that I do for Financial Planners. We haven't done any marketing for that business since 2018 and we still receive a constant stream of Advisors looking for help that we don't have capacity for in our Agency, so I created The RIA VA as a way to be able to teach others in a scaleable way, in the hopes of creating a network of Virtual Assistants who are QUALIFIED to work with Financial Planners that I can refer out to.
I'm so happy to have finally accomplished this goal and have been loving this new chapter in my career!
